introduction:

【Main Components】Flunixin meglumine

【Properties】This product is a light white or pale yellow granule.

【Pharmacological Actions】Pharmacodynamics: Flunixin meglumine is a potent cyclooxygenase inhibitor, with analgesic, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic effects. Its analgesic effect is achieved by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins or their pain sensitizing substances in the periphery or their combined action, thereby blocking the conduction of pain impulses. The anti-inflammatory effect in peripheral tissues may be due to the inhibition of cyclooxygenase, reduction of prostaglandin precursor formation, and inhibition of other mediators causing local inflammatory responses. Flunixin meglumine does not affect the gastrointestinal motility of horses, but it may improve the hemodynamics of animals with septic shock. Pharmacokinetics: After a single intramuscular injection in pigs (2.2 mg/kg body weight), the plasma elimination half-life is 3 to 4 hours, the peak concentration is 2.94 pg/mL, and the peak time is 0.4 hours. The drug can still be detected in the blood 18 hours after administration. The apparent volume of distribution is 2.0 L/kg, and the bioavailability of a single intravenous injection in the neck is 87%.

【Drug Interactions】(1) Concurrent use with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may increase the toxic side effects on the gastrointestinal tract, such as ulcers and bleeding. (2) Due to its high plasma protein binding rate, when used in combination with other drugs, flunixin meglumine may displace other drugs bound to plasma proteins or be displaced by other drugs, resulting in enhanced effects of the displaced drugs or even toxicity.

【Indications and Uses】An antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory drug. It is used for febrile, inflammatory diseases, muscle pain and soft tissue pain in small animals.
