【Main Ingredient】 Metronidazole

【Properties】This product is a white or off-white tablet.

【Pharmacological Effects】 Metronidazole belongs to the nitroimidazole class of antiprotozoal drugs. This drug is rapidly absorbed when taken orally and can quickly reach high concentrations in tissues. The half-life is approximately 8 hours. It is metabolized in the liver through oxidation and glucuronidation, mainly excreted through the kidneys, and a small amount is present in saliva and breast milk. Due to its extremely strong antibacterial effect on anaerobic bacteria, metronidazole is widely used in various infections caused by anaerobic bacteria.

[Function and Application] Antiparasitic drug. It is used for trichomoniasis in cattle, giardiasis in dogs, intestinal protozoan diseases, and also for anaerobic bacterial infections.

【Usage and Dosage】 Oral administration: One dose, for every 10kg of body weight. For cattle, 3 tablets; for dogs, 1.25 tablets.

【Adverse Reactions】 Neurological dysfunction, sluggishness, weakness, anorexia and diarrhea, etc.

【Notes】 (1) This product has relatively low toxicity. Its metabolites often cause the urine to turn red-brown. If the dosage is too high, it may lead to glossitis, gastritis, nausea, vomiting, leukopenia and even neurological symptoms, but all these can be tolerated.

(2) This product can pass through the placental barrier and the breast barrier. Therefore, it is not suitable for use during lactation and in the early stages of pregnancy.
