【Pharmacological Effects】Pharmacodynamics: Taromycin hydrochloride belongs to macrolide antibiotics. It has a strong effect on mycoplasma and is effective against Gram-positive bacteria and some Gram-negative bacteria. The sensitive bacteria include Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Streptobacillus moniliformis, etc.

Pharmacokinetics: Intramuscular injection can lead to rapid absorption. Telavancin is absorbed and distributed throughout the body in the same way as erythromycin. The concentration of telavancin in organs after injection is 2-3 times higher than that after oral administration, but it is not easily able to penetrate the cerebrospinal fluid. The concentration of telavancin in breast milk is approximately 20% of the serum concentration. Telavancin is excreted in its original form in urine and bile.

【Drug Interactions】 (1) It has the same target site as other macrolide drugs and lincomycin. Therefore, they should not be used simultaneously.

(2) When used in combination with β-lactam antibiotics, it exhibits an antagonistic effect.

(3) It has the effect of inhibiting the cytochrome oxidase system, and when used in combination with certain drugs, it may inhibit their metabolism.

【Usage and Dosage】 Measured in terms of tylosin. Subcutaneous or intramuscular injection: The dosage for each administration, per 1kg of body weight, for pigs and poultry: 5 - 13mg.

【Adverse Reactions】(1) It may have hepatotoxicity, manifested as bile stasis, and can also cause vomiting and diarrhea, especially when a high dose is administered.

(2) It is irritating. Intramuscular injection can cause severe pain.
