【Properties】This product is a white to grayish-yellow powder or loose block. 

【Pharmacological Actions】Pharmacodynamics: Ceftiofur belongs to the β-lactam class of antibacterial drugs and has a broad-spectrum bactericidal effect, being effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria (including β-lactamase-producing bacteria). Its antibacterial mechanism involves inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, leading to bacterial death. The main sensitive bacteria include Pasteurella multocida, Pasteurella haemolytica, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Salmonella, Escherichia coli, Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, etc. Some Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterococcus species are resistant. This product has a stronger antibacterial activity than ampicillin and a stronger activity against Streptococcus than fluoroquinolones. Pharmacokinetics: Ceftiofur is rapidly absorbed and widely distributed after intramuscular or subcutaneous injection, but it cannot cross the blood-brain barrier. It has high concentrations in the blood and tissues, and the effective blood drug concentration can be maintained for a long time. In the body, it can generate the active metabolite desfuroylceftiofur, which is further metabolized into inactive products and excreted in urine and feces. 

【Drug Interactions】It has a synergistic effect when used in combination with penicillins and aminoglycosides. 

【Functions and Uses】β-lactam class antibiotic. Mainly used for the treatment of bacterial diseases in livestock and poultry. Such as bacterial respiratory infections in cattle and pigs, and Escherichia coli and Salmonella infections in chickens. 

【Dosage and Administration】Calculated as ceftiofur. Intramuscular injection: once a dose, 3-5 mg per 1 kg body weight for pigs; once a day for 3 consecutive days. Subcutaneous injection: for 1-day-old chickens, 0.1 mg per bird. 

【Adverse Reactions】(1) May cause gastrointestinal flora imbalance or secondary infection. 

(2) Has certain nephrotoxicity.

 (3) May cause transient local pain. 

【Precautions】(1) Prepare and use immediately.

 (2) Adjust the dose for animals with impaired renal function. 

(3) People highly sensitive to β-lactam antibiotics should avoid contact with this product.
